Stranger Danger

We are learning about stranger danger and what to do to protect ourselves if a stranger tried to hurt us or take us away.

If someone tries to grab you, you have to drop to the floor on your bottom, and kick your legs hard, and scream as loud as you can “Stranger, Stranger, HELP!” If someone covers your mouth, you can bite them until they drop you. If they pick you up, you have to throw a great big temper tantrum so they can’t hold you!

You need to tell a Protector what happened, and if there is a Protector around you can get them to help you. It’s good to have a phone in case of emergencies.

Protectors can be

  • Police Officers
  • Ambulance (Paramedics)
  • Parents
  • Your family
  • Teachers
  • Your buddy at school

We watched this video to show us what to do in case of a Stranger Danger Emergency.

Emergency!

We’ve been learning about making safe choices to protect ourselves. But what happens when things go wrong? Then you might need to get help from an emergency helper in the Police, Fire Brigade, or Ambulance service.

Road Safety

Here are some games to practice road safety on the computer:

Kindy Protect Themselves

Kindy have been learning about bullying. It is when someone hurts another person, AND it’s on purpose, AND it’s more than once. We protect ourselves by using assertive language: we can say the person’s name, and say “Stop! I don’t like when you do that!”. On the playground we can play in safe places. That way the teacher can see us and help if we have a problem, like an accident or bullying. We went for a walk to find safe and unsafe places on our playground, and these are the places we decided were unsafe to play.
